California wildfires latest: New fires in Hollywood Hills and Los Angeles County - as five killed and 100,000 ordered to evacuate.A number of wildfires are spreading across the Los Angeles area, fuelled by strong winds, engulfing homes, forcing tens of thousands to flee and killing five people. Aerial images, taken from a helicopter from our US partner, NBC News, shows the brush blaze, near to North Curson Avenue and Wattles Drive. It broke out shortly before 2am (6pm local time) near the popular Runyon Canyon.
It quickly grew to 20 acres, prompting mandatory evacuations from Laurel Canyon Boulevard on the west, to Mulholland Drive on the north, to the 101 Freeway on the east down, to Hollywood Boulevard on the south.
Paris Hilton, the famous socialite and great-granddaughter of Hilton Hotels founder, Conrad Hilton, has revealed that her Malibu home has burnt down in the Los Angeles wildfires.
In a post on X, she wrote: "Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.
