Thursday marks the final day of mourning for former President Jimmy Carter as the nation gathers to honor his life and legacy. Carter, the 39th president of the United States, passed away at 100 on Dec. 29.

He will be buried at his home in Plains, Georgia next to his beloved wife of 77 years, Rosalynn.
