As far back as the 1950s, Stilboestrol or DES was already known to be carcinogenic, yet hospitals were still dispensing the drug to women as a lactation suppressant and to prevent miscarriages.

The women who were made to take DES after being forced to give their babies up for adoption decades ago have permanently altered genes, and now fear the devastating effects have been passed down to their children.
