Halsey - Ego | Vevo Official Live Performance
If you found yourself on Halsey’s Instagram in October 2024, you’d have a hard time finding Halsey anywhere. Instead, you’d come face to face with Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell and… oh, wait that IS Halsey! Fans have long marveled at the pop virtuoso’s world building skills (who could forget the ornate, gothic scenery of 2021’s ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power?’), but it feels like Halsey has taken the biggest creative swing of her career with ‘The Great Impersonator.’ She labels it a “confessional concept album.” As the October 25 release day approached, fans watched her inhabit a kaleidoscope of musical heroes. That was only the beginning. We decided to take the nostalgic trip one step further with these Official Live Performances, seeking to answer the questions: “What if Halsey arrived in a different time? What if she recorded in the 1970s, 80s, 90s or early 2000’s?” So we built four interconnected stages reflective of each decade - with vintage outfits and instruments to match. We captured the action on 35mm film for that timeless feel. Leaning into personal authenticity, Halsey did her own makeup. Team Vevo and Team Halsey’s long history of collaboration allowed this to be one of the series’ most ambitious shoots. The fun kicks off on album release day, and spills into the next week. Heading this essential set is the incredibly poignant and mesmerizing feature documentary Gay USA (1977) from pioneering gay filmmaker Arthur J. Bressan, Jr. (Forbidden Letters (1979), Buddies (1985)). Bressan, Jr. documents aspects of the gay rights movement during the year of 1977 capturing the intersections of diversity in queer life; from vox pop style interviews with lesbian feminists, street drag queens, and straight allies to taking a look at the fight against notorious homophobe Anita Bryant and her "Save Our Children" campaign. Conversations with dedicated gay activists and individuals who have recently come out are masterfully intercut with images of the vast spectrum of LGBT individuals and their supporters proudly marching through sun-kissed streets. As well as being politically and socially important and a perfect snapshot of a period in time of gay solidarity and resistance, it is also a picturesque sparkling film with inspired visuals from Bressan, Jr. and his team of camera operators. Along with this magnetic feature length film comes four short films capturing queer liberation and protest: Lesbian activist Lilli Vincenz's Gay and Proud (1970), which documents the first Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade, held in New York City on June 28, 1970, to commemorate the first anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the lesbian-centric Gay Power (1971) from legendary artists/activists Sharon Hayes and Kate Millett and the Women's Liberation Cinema and two San Francisco focused films: Parade (1972) from artistic all-rounder Ronald Chase, which gives us an insight into the city's first official gay pride parade post-Stonewall and Freedom Day Parade (1974) by iconic filmmaker and choreographer Wakefield Poole (Boys in the Sand (1971)) which was shot at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day.

Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.
