Millions of American families use their personal, general-purpose credit cards to make ends meet. With no federal laws on the amount of interest or fees that can be charged, credit cards have become the most profitable sector of the American banking industry.”] In “Secret History of the Credit Card,” correspondent Lowell Bergman uncovers the techniques used by the industry to earn record profits and get consumers to take on more debt. Some experts argue the profitability of credit cards began when the banking industry successfully eliminated a critical restriction: the limit on the interest rate a lender can charge a borrower. Deregulation, coupled with a revolution in technology enabled the almost real-time tracking of personal financial information and the emergence of nationwide banking, facilitated the widening availability of credit cards across the economic spectrum. But for some, the cost of credit is often far greater than it appears.

It might not be a conventional tactic, but military forces all around the world love to show off. And it’s exactly what the United States and 28 of its allies, including Australia, is currently doing on and around the Hawaiian islands. RIMPAC 2024, as it’s called, is an extraordinary spectacular of the world’s most lethal weaponry. It’s loud, menacing and quite overwhelming. For this story, reporter Dimity Clancey and her team were granted extraordinary access to the operation, which included filming on board the massive USS Carl Vinson Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, as well as securing a rare interview with the US Chief of Naval Operations and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Lisa Franchetti. America and its partners view RIMPAC 2024 as the perfect opportunity to send a decisive message to any would-be adversaries: Mess with us at your peril.

The attacks on 9/11 altered America in many ways, from barricades and body frisks in airports to greater government scrutiny of people’s records and electronic surveillance of their communications. The watershed, officials told FRONTLINE in the 2007 documentary “Spying on the Home Front,” was the government’s shift to a strategy of pre-emption at home — not just prosecuting terrorists for breaking the law, but trying to find and stop them before they struck.

The documentary probed the ramifications of that strategy, explored how the National Security Agency’s domestic surveillance program worked at the time, and examined various viewpoints on whether the Bush administration violated the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and infringed on constitutional protections.

Howard Allan Stern is a well-known American radio jockey, television host, actor, and author. He started his career as a marketing executive and later worked as a radio salesman, from where he worked his way up to midday shifts at a radio station, eventually becoming the station’s production director. He has worked with a number of radio stations that include WWWW, WWDC, WNBC, and WXRK.
He became a national sensation when his show ‘The Howard Stern Show’ gained popularity throughout America. The show, which was first aired in 1986, had a tremendous run until it was finally taken off air in 2005. During its run, ‘The Howard Stern Show’ had gained a whopping 20 million listeners and was aired across 60 markets. Howard is also well-known for his television shows, such as ‘The Howard Stern Show’ and ‘The Howard Stern Interview.’
His book ‘Private Parts’ became a bestseller and was later adapted into a movie in which he appeared as himself. Stern is known by his self-proclaimed title ‘King of all Media,’ for his contribution across all major entertainment platforms has been immense over the years.

Every day, police rely on common tactics that, unlike guns, are meant to stop people without killing them, such as physical holds, Tasers and body blows. But when misused, these tactics involving what police call “less-lethal force” can still end in death.

The federal government has struggled for years to count these types of deaths, and the little information it collects is often kept from the public and incomplete. This documentary is part of a multiplatform investigation from an AP-led team offering the most extensive accounting ever compiled of deaths following these kinds of encounters: 1,036 in the decade from 2012-21. Police say they are often responding to volatile and sometimes violent situations, and deaths are rare.
Drawing on police records, autopsy reports, witness accounts and body camera footage, the film is a powerful and nuanced examination of what an AP reporter calls “hidden deaths.”

When Edward Snowden exposed the U.S. National Security Agency’s secret mass surveillance programs, defenders of the NSA said the spying was necessary, and they produced an example: David Coleman Headley, an American recruited by Pakistani terrorists to help plan the 2008 Mumbai attack known as “India’s 9/11.” But was Headley’s capture an intelligence success? ProPublica reporter Sebastian Rotella investigated those claims, unearthing evidence of how intelligence agencies didn’t stop the 2008 attack in which 166 people were killed. “American Terrorist” is an updated and expanded version of 2011’s “A Perfect Terrorist.”
