You’ve been hearing about F1 too, right? Formula 1 is skyrocketing in popularity in the US, driven in part by the Netflix series Drive To Survive. In this video, we’ll break down exactly what you need to know to keep up with this crazy, expensive sport everyone’s suddenly obsessed with. But we’ll also take a deeper look at the big (HUGE*!) question here, which is: Why do this? Why pour so much money, so many bright minds, so much technological effort into F1… into entertainment?

The answer is in what we get in return. Formula 1 is much more than a car race. It’s a space program, for the road.

When reporter Nick McKenzie received a tip-off about this story last year, he couldn’t believe what he was being told. Twelve months of investigating though has not only confirmed it, but also established it is much worse than he first thought. In a joint 60 MINUTES, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald special report, McKenzie exposes what could be one of Australia’s largest human trafficking operations. What he has discovered are vulnerable Asian woman being coerced into enduring shocking conditions as sex workers. In fact, their treatment is so poor that even police admit not enough is being done to help them. Meanwhile the crime bosses make huge profits off this multi-million-dollar industry, while making a mockery of Australia’s supposedly strict border security.

Torrance resident, Danny Hamilton has reached the final round in Country Music Television's annual, nationwide, singer-songwriter competition, "Music City Madness." Contestants from all over the U.S. submitted video entries in early October and fans worldwide have been voting online every day since, narrowing an initial 64 finalists down to just 2. Voting for this final round will continue until the contest concludes on December 14th at 9:00 am Pacific time. The winner will be announced on December 15th. The contest finale is set to air on CMT December 11th at 10:00am Pacific time.

Danny, a graduate of South High School in Torrance, has been performing around Southern California for over a decade, playing in local clubs like The Whisky A Go-Go and The Hard Rock Cafe among many others. He is also a regular performer at local festivals and fundraisers. This is Danny's third year as a finalist in the Music City Madness competition.

Danny's musical roots span from Rock and Roll, Blues, Folk, Blugrass to Country, but calls HIS music "Roots-Rock". The video he submitted to this contest, recorded earlier this year, features Danny performing his song "Bury the Devil" with friends and fellow artists Christopher Lopez, Teri Hitt, Brian Hardin, Cela Scott and David Crocco.
